New Sock yarn...

While reading one of my favorite blogs....good to be girl I came across one of her entries that had a link to.....
http://knitterlythings.com/ She got a sock kit with 4 skeins of beautiful dyed sock yarn...really cool...Now I just really need to get over my sock phobia and knit....

I really want to get into socks. I think that it would be cool to be knitting socks and experiementing with dying. I did see that I can get knitted yarn and dye it, and then unravel it for my own socks.....

hmm....

one more thing to add....after making only 8 to 10 leis, I might be going into a small business making them...It was a huge hit for the ones who were in college. Apparently, as the girls who graduated was walking on the stage, and off the stage, they were approached by several people who were in the audience, as well as fellow graduates, that wanted them....she could've sold them off her neck, and they were willing to pay 25.00 to 30.00 each! Not bad, eh? I might be making a slew of them for some of the local college graduations!!!! What a way to get through the June Gloom!

See? I really knit!

My friend Karen and I started to make socks. I don't know how far Karen is, but I am almost at the toe..I think for my first sock I am doing 'ok'. Well, it is ok for me...I think once I get the hang of it, I can do it quicker. I have to go back in and get 'lessons' for the toe. And then start the other side..unless I can find a friend with only 1 foot...

I love the details of the colors in the yarn, and I do want to get more of this lovely yarn...by Happy Feet.

This is another project I am doing. I found that I needed to have a small 'something' to hold my cell phone and DL in, but not necessarily money. So, I am going to knit a small pouch, and then felt it. I had this Caron ball of yarn, of felting yarn. (SO, I don't have to use my more $$ yarn!)..can you see using a 20.00 ball of yarn from Wales when I can use this 4.00 ball to do the same thing??

this was done with a combination of yarns..can't remember what..but, they were from Michaels...so it was cheap...

no pattern involved, just knitted and made into a basket with a i cord handle and fun fur knitted into the top 3 rounds.

This was done using cheap cotton yarn from WALMART...made into a shrug and a hat (I ran out of the first dye lot, and had to get another one, but it was more paler). The hat was done with the paler yarn. It is cute though....! I think the color was called PINK LEMONADE

What a week...trials and tribulations

I have had a rain cloud over my head....I don't know why, but it makes me wonder what is going on..........From last week with my water heater to my daughter having a reaction to a shot she got at the Dr's and then having chest xrays...and now on medication to... this last Friday, the electricity went out of my house, but fortunately God (or someone) woke me up at 4 am to let me know that this was happening, otherwise I would've woken up late for work....

I went out in my shabby shirt, (pulled on pants) and zoris and went outside to check the breaker box with a tiny flashlight. I pulled all the breakers twice and then twice again, to no avail...only electricity in 1/2 of the house....I am getting frantic..thinking that this is some scary movie that the lady goes outside her house and gets attacked by "Freddy the 13th" ..or "Jason's Nightmare on 46th Street" or something...lol All I can think is that $$$ are going out the window when I get home from work...and I have to call an electrician....(and then my boss tells about some guy in our area who went under his house and got electrocuted, and the firemen had to make a huge hole in the floor to get him out, but he was dead --YEAH, like that REASSURES ME!!!)

Later, after getting back home from work, I find that all is well, electricity is working and the neighbor tells me that the transformer was only 1/2 out..hence, only 1/2 the homes had 1/2 power...so, I thought it was only me, but no, it was several of my neighbors...

Then, today, I go to my car to get to the doctor's appointment that I have, to find that I have a severely flat tire. FLAT...the good thing? Well, it could've been yesterday when we were in COMPTON/WATTS area for a basketball game (for those of you who don't know the area, it is gang territory, crack heads etc..., where you don't want to be at all in a desperate situation)...so, I am thankful that I had an Angel watching over so that we didn't get a flat while we were there!

So....I guess I am happy that I can see the rainbow through my cloud...One of my Bible verses came to mind, and it was Hebrews 12: 2 to persevere and go beyond our sins, and run the race...Keeping my focus on Him....

The good thing is, I wasn't the person that got their truck towed away on our street today...Now, they really had a bad day!

Daruma dolls.
I have a couple of these. I got them from my Grandmother's house. I don't know what happened to some of the other ones. I think my cousins got them. These were from Orlando. They had them in a table, and it was so colorful, I had to look at it from the artistic side of me. The plaque (above) was with it, and it explains what Darumas were. VERY Interesting...?

these toys bring back memories....there were in a collection at Disney World in Orlando.

Favorites on Etsy - not made by me, but you gotta check it out!!!
